These are the first illustrative attempts of what will soon replace the old buildings of the world headquarters of APEXX.  Other versions will be coming, including pieces of the versions depicted in the images above.  The goal of the final building is to be a mixed use building - two or three floors high.  Spaces will be available for office, retail, & maybe even residential.  Tenants will have covered parking - no more scraping the ice and snow off your windshield in winter, or worrying about hail damage or melting to your seat in summer.  A perfect comparison of this would be the Monona Wal-Mart off the Beltline in Madison.
 
While most eco-friendly buildings try to cut down or supplement their power consumption, there have yet to be any buildings that go so far as to generate more power than they consume. The new APEXX building will try to change that, which is why we are looking to follow the lead of the Masdar Headquarters in Abu Dhabi, the world's first positive energy building designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture out of Chicago IL. The first thing that could go up would be a solar roof pier that will gather juice as the rest of the structure goes up. 
 
APEXX's goal is to revitalize the intersection of Hwy 23 & Hwy 12.  Making it a stopping point for travelers as well as locals - a unique building like no other.  I welcome your input, so now is your time to share ideas before final plans are made.  If you wish to be a renter, or owner in the project, contact Mike Wentland anytime at (608) 254-6600. 
 
Monday June 29th 2009, the first of the 3 old buildings were removed.  Remaining buildings were removed May 2010, and because the Village of Lake Delton wouldn't allow me to proceed immediately with my permanent office, the temporary office was put in place on 6/30/10.  Now the next step - the permanent building.  Wheels stay in motion...

OPTION 1: NEW APEXX BUILDING TO CONSIST OF:
1st Floor 3,000 sq ft:
     1,000 to 1,500 sq ft unit to be  potentially occupied by WDVCB. 
     1,500 to 2,000 sq ft unit available.  Couple interested parties.
2nd Floor 4,000 sq ft: 
     2,000 sq ft office unit to be occupied by APEXX. 
     2,000 sq ft office unit to be potentially occupied by an Attorney’s office.
3rd Floor 3,000 sq ft: 
     1,500 sq ft condo to be occupied by APEXX. 
     1,500 sq ft condo unit to be sold.  Couple interested parties.
Rooftop patio for use by all tenants.
Total square footage of new building:  10,000 sq ft
 
OPTION 2: NEW APEXX BUILDING TO CONSIST OF:
1st Floor 10,000 total sq ft:
     1,000 to 1,500 sq ft units. One to be potentially occupied by WDVCB. 
     8,000 to 9,000sq ft of covered enclosed parking.
2nd Floor 7,000 to 8,000 sq ft: 
     2,000 sq ft office unit to be occupied by APEXX. 
     2,000 sq ft office units to be potentially occupied by an Attorney’s office and other interested parties.
     Private rooftop patio along the roadway for 2nd floor tenants to use.
3rd Floor 7,000 to 8,000 sq ft: 
     Rooftop patio for use by all tenants. Solar panels to provide areas of shade and power generation.
Total square footage of new building:  10,000 sq ft

APEXX's GOAL
To have a self sustaining unit, putting energy back to the grid if possible.  Ways include:
 
1) Green rooftop.  For all to enjoy those beautiful WI Dells summer days.  What better break room!
 
2) Natural lighting.  Open healthy environment.
 
3) Solar panel covered parking lot.  Keep your car cool, and protect you from the rain/snow. 
4) Or better yet, enclosed parking to protect tenants and visitors year around from the elements.
